Case Studies – Mental Health Garden Ulster Hospital

France Install Pergola

Urban Choice were so delighted to be involved in this massive design at a local hospital. Our remit in this project was different than any other of our installations.

The Health Board were looking for a sanctuary for both Patients and Staff at the Mental Health area within the hospital grounds.

The landscape designer had created an amazing garden space for recovery and mental health promotion and a safe relaxing “garden shelter” was needed to allow use of this space 365 days of the year.

Extra time, discussion and assessment was required to ensure that the pergola would be a safe environment suitable for the use of staff and patients alike.

The Renson Camargue was designed with glass sliding doors all around to have a continued view of the gardens from all areas within the Camargue.

Adding heat for comfort and music for calming relaxation.

The Camargue has become the central focal point within the garden space and with the “red” colour chosen by the client themselves bringing a bright presence into all the surrounding greenery.

“Bringing the Outdoors in” for the patients and staff at the hospital was one of the most rewarding projects for us to be involved in.

Testimonial

“McIlwaine Landscape Architects approached Urban Choice whilst designing a Mental Health Garden for patients at the Ulster Hospital. Biophilic design increases occupant connectivity with the natural environment & Urban Choice supported us in our goal to provide an enclosed canopy for patients to use whatever the weather. A Renson canopy was ultimately specified which provides patients with a 360 view of the garden. Urban Choice were engaging from the outset and provided a professional, expedient service from concept through to completion.”
